Why Unfollowers Numbers Can Differ from the Instagram App

Occasionally, your unfollowers list may not perfectly match numbers shown in Instagram. Here are the common reasons and what they mean.

1) Private accounts & removals

Private accounts can remove you; depending on timing, your export might capture a snapshot before or after the change.

2) Username changes

People change handles. Your export stores user IDs and usernames at the time of export; historical changes may cause mismatches.

3) Timing & cache

Instagram’s app often shows cached counts. Your export is a point-in-time snapshot. A few hours can create small differences.

4) Deleted or suspended users

Accounts that are deleted or suspended may appear in older exports but not in newer data.

5) Export scope

Make sure you requested all follower and following files and selected the JSON format. Missing files reduce accuracy.
