Frequently asked questions

Understand exactly what the analyzer can—and cannot—tell you before uploading your Instagram export.

Account access and safety

Do I need to enter my Instagram password?

No. TrackUnfollowers never asks for your Instagram login, password, authentication code, or account permission. You upload a data archive that Instagram prepares for you.

Can this tool follow, unfollow, post, or send messages?

No. It has no access to your Instagram account and cannot perform account actions.

Is TrackUnfollowers affiliated with Instagram?

No. TrackUnfollowers is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta.

Exports and results

Which export settings should I choose?

Choose Followers and following, select JSON format, and use the All time date range. Upload the original ZIP without extracting it.

What does “not following back” mean?

It means you currently follow the account, but that account is not present in your current followers list.

Can this identify people who recently unfollowed me?

Not from one export. A single archive is a snapshot of current relationships. Historical unfollows require comparing lists captured on different dates.

Why might counts differ from the Instagram app?

Exports are prepared at a point in time. Account changes, disabled accounts, processing delays, or a limited export date range can create differences.

Data handling

Can I remove an upload?

Yes. After processing, the site provides a private deletion token and a button that immediately removes the stored ZIP and associated lists.

How can I learn more?
